The scientists tested a forest growth model called PREBAS on uneven-aged forests in Finland. They added different tree size classes to better represent the forest structure and introduced a new mortality model. The model performed better with size distributions and the new mortality model showed promise, especially for larger trees. However, some model bias still existed, suggesting further calibration is needed for better predictions in uneven-aged forests.
