Ranchers and Federal Land Managers Clash Over Rangeland Management Strategies.
Ranchers and federal land managers in Idaho have different views on how to manage rangelands, based on their goals and understanding of the ecosystem. They use indicators like plant diversity and height to assess rangeland health and make decisions. Ranchers focus more on seasonal livestock impacts, while agency specialists prioritize managing invasive grasses and fire. Despite some differences, both groups share similar perspectives within their social groups. This study shows that ranchers and agency specialists have unique knowledge about their local rangelands, influencing their management practices.
