Soil testing is important for turfgrass managers to decide on fertilizer use. Choosing the right soil test extractant is crucial, depending on soil properties and correlation data for the region. Common extracts were tested for phosphorous and potassium extraction in three soil samples. Fertilizer recommendations should follow regional sufficiency levels and MLSN guidelines. SLAN or MLSN guidelines are best for turf fertilization decisions. Using the wrong extractant, calibration, or ratios for major cations is not recommended.
