The study looked at how different city designs affect the Urban Heat Island effect in a Mediterranean city. They studied seven sites in Mostaganem, Algeria, using weather stations and infrared thermometers. By modeling different urban forms, they found that semi-enclosed areas with shade had lower temperatures compared to open areas. The study showed that urban design can impact how hot an area gets during the day.
