Final Conversations with Dying Loved Ones Haunt Survivors with Lifelong Regret
Final conversations with dying loved ones can bring up feelings of regret for survivors. A study with 44 participants found that regrets fell into three categories: validation regret, intersubjective regret, and encumbrance regret. Participants also used techniques to manage their regrets. This research shows that communication patterns during final conversations can impact how survivors cope with bereavement.
