Electric Vehicles Poised to Conquer Urban Commutes with Adaptive Transmission Technology
The goal of the study was to develop a strategy to reduce energy consumption in electric vehicles (EVs) by adapting to different driving conditions. Researchers equipped an EV with a special transmission system and optimized its performance for urban and suburban driving. The results showed that EVs with this system can improve driving efficiency by up to 58.7% in urban areas and 88.8% in suburban areas. This strategy has the potential to solve issues caused by mismatched powertrain characteristics and driving conditions in EVs.
