New study reveals improved precipitation data for Mongolian Plateau regions!
The study evaluated different precipitation data over the Mongolian Plateau from 2001 to 2018. The researchers found that while all products showed seasonal patterns, only some could capture long-term trends. Daily precipitation was best described by ERA5-Land, followed by other products. However, all products tended to overestimate light rain and underestimate heavy rain. The data performed well in agricultural and forested areas, but poorly in sparse vegetation and bare regions. Overall, the ERA5 data was deemed most suitable for the complex terrain of the Mongolian Plateau, providing valuable information for regional applications.
