AI Revolutionizes Maize Farming, Empowering Farmers to Tackle Crop Diseases
In the article, researchers compared machine learning and deep learning methods for identifying diseases in maize leaves using images. Machine learning requires manual selection of image features, while deep learning automatically extracts features. The two methods use different algorithms like k-nearest neighbor and neural networks. Deep learning handles large data well but needs powerful computers. The study found that deep learning performs better for this task, with 28 articles supporting its effectiveness compared to 18 for machine learning out of a total of 62 articles examined. The research aims to improve how we classify and diagnose diseases on maize plants.
