New solution boosts stallion sperm viability for genetic preservation.
The researchers wanted to see how well a solution called Ringer B. Braun could preserve stallion sperm from the epididymis for up to 72 hours. They compared it to a regular commercial extender. They found that sperm stored in Ringer solution had slightly better viability and motility after one hour compared to the commercial extender. This suggests that Ringer solution could be good for storing stallion sperm for up to 24 hours at a cool temperature.
