The article examines how effective subsidies are in promoting environmental sustainability on FADN farms. By analyzing data from European regions, EU countries, and economic classes, the researchers found that increasing environmental payments and rural development subsidies is crucial for improving environmental sustainability. Simply increasing funds for this purpose is not enough. The study concludes that direct payments do not significantly contribute to achieving environmental sustainability, despite being a priority for the EU.
