Microplastics Threaten Aquatic Ecosystems and Biodiversity, Urgent Action Needed
Microplastics, tiny pieces of plastic, are a big problem for aquatic environments. They come from plastic items and can enter water through treatment plants. Removing microplastics from wastewater is important. Not enough is known about how microplastics affect biodiversity and ecological services. This review looks at how microplastics impact aquatic life and how they gather in water.
