New bending test revolutionizes cardboard strength assessment for packaging industry.
The researchers tested cardboard to see how strong and flexible it is when bent. They used two different bending tests to measure these properties. They found that the cardboard's stiffness decreased with shorter spans in one test, especially when bending in the same direction as the cardboard's fibers. In the other test, they could accurately measure stiffness and strength regardless of span length. This means the second test is better for evaluating cardboard's bending properties.
