Researchers investigated the potential for creating better sesame plants by crossing different varieties. They made 21 new hybrid plants from 7 parent plants and tested them in the field. Some of these hybrids showed significantly higher seed yield compared to the parent plants. This means that by carefully choosing which plants to cross, we can create new sesame plants that produce more seeds.
