Greenery in Baghdad region flourishes, plant cover area nearly doubles in 11 years.
The study looked at how much plant cover increased in the region west of Baghdad from 1990 to 2001 using satellite data. They found that the area of green vegetation in the region grew from 44,760.25 hectares to 75,410.67 hectares during this time. This means that more plants were growing in the area over the 11-year period, leading to less exposed land.
