Onshore wind farms have minimal impact on global wind patterns.
Onshore wind farms do not significantly change global wind speeds or patterns. Researchers analyzed wind data from 1980-1999 and found that while wind speeds decreased at some wind farm locations, overall patterns remained stable. In areas with many wind farms, wind speeds actually increased. Another dataset showed no significant changes in wind speeds or patterns at wind farm sites. The impact of wind farms on global winds is minimal compared to natural weather patterns. In the long run, onshore wind farms are unlikely to reduce global wind speeds or alter their distribution.
