Virtual Water Flows Ease Agricultural Water Scarcity Across China
The article examines how virtual water flows impact regional water use in China. By differentiating between blue, green, and grey water types, they found that virtual water flow reduced agricultural water footprints significantly in certain regions, helping to decrease water stress. This study focused on 31 Chinese provinces and highlighted how virtual water flow can mitigate resource-based water scarcity in specific areas. The analysis revealed that virtual water flow can positively affect water availability in different regions, showing how water resources are interconnected and can help alleviate water stress in agriculture.
