New 2.5D Hazard Map Helps Visually Impaired Navigate Natural Disasters
The goal of the research is to create a special type of map that visually impaired people can use to understand hazards like flooding. The researchers are developing a web application to make these maps, starting with the flooding in Nagano Prefecture in 2019. They are using a method where they cut an acrylic board to show different levels of danger. This new type of map will help visually impaired individuals better understand and prepare for potential hazards in their area.
