Revolutionizing Crop Productivity in Bangladesh with Four-Crop Cropping Pattern.
A study in Bangladesh tested a new four-crop pattern to increase crop productivity and income for farmers. By planting potatoes, Boro rice, T. Aus rice, and T. Aman rice in rotation, the new pattern outperformed the traditional fallow-Boro-fallow-T. Aman pattern. The new system produced higher yields and profits, with a benefit-cost ratio of 2.01 in one location and 1.85 in another. This means the new pattern is more profitable than the old one. Overall, the four-crop pattern is recommended for better productivity, income, and job opportunities in the region.
