A new citation manual was created by the Association of Legal Writing Directors to simplify and improve the consistency of citation rules. The goal was to make learning and teaching citation form less intimidating. The ALWD Citation Manual achieved this by presenting rules in an easy-to-understand format. The manual was designed to be user-friendly for lawyers, judges, law teachers, and students. The primary author, Darby Dickerson, and the Advisory Committee successfully met these goals.
