Misinformation Fuels Distrust in COVID-19 Vaccines Across Indonesia
Hoaxes about Covid-19 are spreading on social media in Indonesia, especially about vaccines. The researchers studied 36 hoaxes from January to May 2021 to understand them better. They found that many hoaxes gave false information about vaccine effects and spread distrust of the government. Some hoaxes even used fake information from doctors. The pattern of these hoaxes involves using real images or text and changing them for specific reasons. This study helps anti-hoax activists create better strategies to stop the spread of false information.
