Foreign-owned companies in Czechia not capturing expected value, service sector lags.
The article examines how companies in Czechia create and capture value, focusing on the role of their position in global production networks. The study looked at the top 300 companies in Czechia from 2014 to 2019 and found that foreign-owned companies did not follow the expected pattern of value capture. It was discovered that the mandates given by multinational companies to their national branches play a significant role. Additionally, companies in the service sector tend to capture less value compared to manufacturing firms. Companies with access to the end market, whether in manufacturing or services, tend to capture more value than those without such access. The study suggests that the relationship between a company's position in global networks and value capture is more complex than previously thought.
