Monitoring snow cover changes in the Pamirs from 2010 to 2020 showed a slight decrease trend overall. The largest snow cover area was in 2012, while the smallest was in 2014. Snow cover varies by season, with the most in March and the least in August. Spring and summer snow cover decreased slightly, while autumn and winter remained stable. Altitude significantly affects snow cover, with higher areas having more snow, especially in the Karakoram Mountains above 5000 meters.
