More Sixes, Less Draws: T20 Cricket's Impact on Test Matches
The introduction of Twenty20 (T20) cricket has changed the way Test cricket is played. More runs are now scored by sixes and fewer by fours. The percentage of Test matches ending in draws has significantly decreased. Run rates have increased for some teams, remained constant for one, and decreased for two. Test matches still last around five days on average. Coaches and players should focus on hitting more sixes, increasing run rates, and rotating strikes when batting. Future studies should look into how T20 cricket has affected One Day International (ODI) performance.
