Coastal erosion is a big problem in Peninsular Malaysia due to human activities and monsoon winds. The government built 55 structures to protect the coast in Terengganu. By studying historical shoreline data and interviewing stakeholders, researchers found that these structures are effective in managing erosion during the northeast monsoon. They recommend using more efficient structures to better protect the coast.
