The study looked at the experiences of non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits who stayed in Kashmir during the mass migration in 1989. They found that these non-migrants faced uncertainty, isolation, and threats to their identity. Despite this, they had positive relationships with the Kashmiri Muslim community. Migration had a big impact on their social, cultural, and religious identities.
