A biorefinery that turns mango peel waste into useful products was studied using a method called life cycle assessment (LCA). LCA helps measure the environmental impacts of the biorefinery process and products from start to finish. The study found that extracting more products from the waste is better for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In this case, the biorefinery process resulted in 3,230,000 kg of CO2 equivalent emissions.
