Bioenergy with carbon dioxide removal (CDR) can help fight climate change. Two CDR bioenergy systems, Biochar and BECCS, were compared to a regular bioenergy system. The CDR systems generally had a lower climate impact. The best system depended on what was being measured (like heat or electricity). The type of energy system being replaced also affected the results. It's important to consider different factors when comparing bioenergy systems to make sure we choose the best option for the environment.
