Seasonal water quality fluctuations threaten drinking water safety in treatment plants.
Seasonal changes in water quality can make it hard to purify drinking water effectively. When the water is murky and colored with lots of organic stuff, especially in cold weather, it's even trickier. During floods, treatment plants get more polluted water, making the treated water quality worse. Meeting water quality standards becomes tough, and sometimes impossible. To fix this, different methods are used to treat the water based on the season and the technology available at the treatment plant.
