Understanding how river flow affects tides in the Yangtze River estuary is crucial for managing water resources. A new model was developed using real-time water level data to predict how river flow impacts tides. The model accurately predicted water levels at six monitoring stations in the estuary. This model can help quantify the influence of river flow on tides, including changes in tide patterns and water levels, and distinguish between river and tidal effects on water levels. It is a useful tool for managing water resources in estuaries affected by river flow.
