Microwave tech unlocks hemp's hidden treasure, boosting sustainable hemicellulose production.
A new method using microwaves and alkali was developed to extract hemicellulose from hemp stalk efficiently. By treating the stalk with microwaves, the structure became looser, making it easier to extract hemicellulose. The extracted hemicellulose had a high molecular weight. The model created to predict the extraction process worked well, showing a strong correlation between predicted and actual results. This method has the potential to be used in the industry for separating hemicellulose from hemp stalk.
