The review looked at different types of diatoms in Iraqi waters. They found 454 diatom species in both freshwater and salty waters across various cities. The most common genera were Nitzschia, Navicula, Cymbella, Fragilaria, and Gomphonema. The researchers created a list of diatom species found in Iraq based on previous studies.
