Climate change in Western Ukraine linked to increase in anticyclonic weather.
Changes in the atmospheric circulation types over Western Ukraine were studied from 1881 to 2017 to see how they relate to climate change. The researchers used a classification system to identify different types of atmospheric circulation. They found that anticyclonic types were more common, especially in recent years, which corresponds to warming trends. In the warmer months, anticyclonic weather was prevalent, while in the colder months, there was an increase in anticyclonic types from the western sector. These changes in atmospheric circulation types can impact air temperatures and precipitation amounts over time.
