Industrial Agglomeration Boosts Green Efficiency in China's Urban Areas
Industrial agglomeration affects how efficiently cities use green space, which is important for sustainable development. A study on 283 Chinese cities from 2003 to 2019 shows that urban land green use efficiency (ULGUE) has been increasing overall. Manufacturing agglomeration is concentrated in the southeast coastal region, while production service industry agglomeration is more dispersed. Improving ULGUE in one area can benefit nearby regions. Manufacturing agglomerations can enhance ULGUE in neighboring areas, while production service industry agglomerations have a weaker direct impact. The integration of manufacturing and productive service industries does not significantly boost ULGUE growth.
