Banas River Basin Faces Severe Water Scarcity, Threatening Livelihoods of Millions
The Banas river basin faces moderate blue water scarcity, particularly in November, December, and January, with an average scarcity index of 140.9% from 2008 to 2020. This means water availability is a challenge and may impact sustainability. The study used the water footprint approach to assess these issues. However, August, September, and October show lower scarcity levels. To combat water scarcity, farmers in the area should adopt better water management practices. The findings suggest that improved policies and water management strategies can help solve these challenges and enhance water resource allocation and use.
