Heavy metal poisoning in Euphrates River threatens Iraq's water safety.
The study examined metal contamination in the Euphrates River in Iraq. Six heavy metals were analyzed in sediment samples from six sites over four seasons. The researchers used three indices to assess pollution levels. They found that Cd and Pb showed high pollution levels, while other metals had minimal to moderate contamination. Cr was significantly contaminated in all seasons. Overall, the sediment was not contaminated by most metals except for Cr in spring.
