The Patagonian shelf has a huge potential for tidal energy, with over 100 GW of power available. By using advanced tidal mapping, researchers identified two key regions with high energy potential. They selected three sites for further analysis based on practical factors like water depth and grid proximity. Through modeling, they found that these sites could extract over 40% of the available energy, reducing periods of no-generation to under 20%. This renewable energy source could greatly exceed Argentina's electricity demand, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
