The study looked at how relationships in Macau are important for people to work together and live in harmony. They focused on how being involved in these relationships affects the network of connections, with conflict and Machiavellianism playing a role. The researchers found that being involved in relationships (Guanxi involvement) is linked to having strong relationships (Guanxi), but not to having a wide network of connections. They also found that having strong relationships (Guanxi) is linked to having a wide network of connections. Conflict and Machiavellianism can affect these relationships, but trust (Xinren) is the most important factor in building strong connections.
