Marine protected areas (MPAs) and marine spatial planning (MSP) are important tools for protecting the ocean environment. However, they are not always used together effectively. The current approach is too focused on individual sectors, and the laws governing these tools are not unified. This lack of coordination hinders their ability to protect marine life. The researchers suggest that MPAs and MSP should be implemented together under a unified legal framework to better preserve the marine environment.
