Electric Vehicle Owners Ditch Hybrids for Fully Electric Cars, Shaping Sustainable Mobility Future
The article examines why people who own electric cars decide to switch to different types of electric or traditional vehicles. They surveyed 1,446 electric car owners and found that most owners of battery-powered vehicles choose to replace them with newer electric cars of the same type. Some opt for plug-in hybrids or gasoline cars instead. On the other hand, owners of plug-in hybrid cars are more evenly split between sticking with plug-in hybrids, switching to battery-electric cars, or going back to gasoline vehicles. The type of car, satisfaction levels, charging access at home, gas prices, personal characteristics, and attitudes towards technology and the environment all play a role in these decisions.
