Commit Messages Transformed: Boosting Collaboration and Maintenance in Student Projects
This research aimed to help students write better commit messages when working on coding projects together. The researchers changed the GitHub Desktop tool to include specific rules for what each commit message should include. They divided students into two groups: one group used this new version of the tool, while the other used different software. The results showed that students using the updated tool improved their commit messages by making them more informative, clear, and the right length. This means that using a tool with guidelines can help students communicate better when working on code with others.
