New model revolutionizes understanding of fluid flow in porous media.
The new geometric model presented in the article accurately calculates the tortuosity of flow paths in 3D porous media with cubic particles. This model, based on tortuous stream tubes, considers unrestricted particle overlap and incompressible fluids. By using porosity as a key factor, the model reveals how fluids flow through porous media. The results show that this model performs well in approximating flow paths in three-dimensional porous rocks.
