Wastewater treatment plants major source of harmful microplastics in oceans.
Microplastics, tiny plastic particles, are a big problem in our water systems. Even though wastewater treatment plants try to remove them, a lot still ends up in rivers and oceans. These microplastics are less than 5 mm in size and come in different colors and types. Scientists are studying how to find and measure these tiny plastics in the environment. They are also looking at what happens to microplastics during water treatment. The goal is to figure out how to completely get rid of microplastics in our water.
