Representation of women in legislative studies is low. Many women study legislatures but don't always identify as scholars in the field. They tend to prioritize other journals over the main one in the field. A survey of 361 women in Fall 2019 aimed to understand why this is the case. The researchers found that women's underrepresentation in legislative studies can be improved by initiatives like the Women in Legislative Studies program.
