Increasing fertility subsidies in Korea leads to sharp decline in birth rates.
Low fertility rates are a concern in Korea, so this study looked at how government subsidies affect birth rates. They analyzed data from 2014 to 2018 and found that as fertility subsidies increased, birth rates actually decreased. This suggests that simply giving more money for having children may not be the best way to increase the population. To boost birth rates effectively, policies should consider a range of factors beyond just financial incentives.
