If these commitments are fully enforced, oil palm plantations could be 40% smaller by 2030, saving 96 million hectares of forests from conversion. This could prevent 17% of forests from being lost due to oil palm expansion. Zero-deforestation commitments have the potential to bring significant environmental benefits if followed through.
