New herbicide combination saves wheat crops from resistant weed invasion!
Researchers tested different herbicides alone and in combinations to control herbicide-resistant Phalaris minor in wheat fields. They found that using a combination of metribuzin before planting and sulfosulfuron after emergence was the most effective method for weed control and maximizing grain yield. Other herbicides like pyroxasulfone showed complete control of Phalaris minor but were less effective against broadleaf weeds and could harm the crop at higher doses. Overall, using a mix of pre- and post-emergence herbicides can help farmers manage herbicide-resistant weeds and improve crop yields in wheat fields.
