Grass-covered fields in Nigeria play crucial role in climate regulation
An Eddy Covariance system was used to measure heat fluxes over a grass-covered area in Nigeria from 2016 to 2019. Sensible heat flux ranged from -0.8 to 181.9 Wm-2, while latent heat flux varied from 0.9 to 218.0 Wm-2. Sensible heat was higher than latent heat during dry months, and vice versa during wet months. Most of the energy at the surface was used for evapotranspiration, with only a small portion used for heating.
