New Coastal Management System Protects South Indian Coasts from Hazards
The Coastal Management Information System (CMIS) focuses on collecting data to help plan and design structures for protecting and developing coastal areas. Researchers studied three coastal sites in South India to gather information on waves, currents, tides, and other factors affecting the coast. They found that different techniques are available to protect coasts from natural and human-induced hazards, like sea-level rise and pollution. The goal is to use this data to create sustainable solutions for coastal conservation and development.
