Walking commuters happiest, public transport users least satisfied in compact cities.
The study looked at how using sustainable ways of getting around in cities with lots of cars affects how happy people are with their travel and how they feel while traveling. They looked at data from Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece using both numbers and people's stories. People who walk to work are the most satisfied and happiest while traveling. On the other hand, people who use public transport are the least satisfied and happy, mainly because it takes a long time and the services are not great in one of the cities. The study shows that having good public transport, walking paths, and bike lanes is crucial for making travel in cities more enjoyable and sustainable.
