Livestock farmers in Balochistan key to poverty reduction success.
Livestock farmers in Balochistan were surveyed to understand their views on how livestock can help reduce poverty. The study included farmers from Quetta, Pishin, and Naseerabad districts. Most farmers were aged 31-40, with many being illiterate and preferring a joint family system. Over half believed that low family income was a major cause of poverty. The research found significant differences in perceptions among farmers in the three districts. It was suggested that the government should improve the livestock sector to increase productivity and reduce poverty in rural areas.
